Lagos is a coastal town, which means we have moderate weather year round. However, it also brings quickly changing temperatures due to the ocean breeze. To make sure you’re comfortable dancing all day long at the venue, here’s what we recommend you bring:
1. Layers
Layers – the sun is powerful here in the Algarve. Bring something light for the day time. It will get cooler at night with a light breeze. Bring a windbreaker or sweatshirt to stay cozy during the Grateful Nights
2. Sunscreen or Sun Protection
Sunscreen or sun protection – the grassy area where we’ll be dancing is in the sun, so make sure to stay protected from those intense UV rays. A hat, UV clothes, and sunscreen go a long way.
3. Reusable Water Bottle
Reusable water bottle – there is a filtered water refill station on site by the main bar
4. Towel or Small Blanket for Sitting
Towel or small blanket for sitting – the dance area is in the grass. If you want to relax and sit down between dancing, bring a towel or small blanket to lounge. We ask that you keep it small (think 2-person max) so that there is plenty of room for dancing. There is limited seating throughout Wake Park. 5. Credit/Debit Card & Some Cash
Credit/Debit card & some cash – want to check out the local artisans that make up our mini Shakedown Street? Not all accept credit cards, so bring some cash too (euros only). Visa/Mastercard is accepted at Wake Park.
6. Good Vibes
Good Vibes – it’s all about good vibes here at Eyes of the Algarve. Looking to be happy, dancing, and meet some new friends? This is your spot. Looking to get belligerent and pick a fight? Head elsewhere.
7. Tie Dyes & Stealies
Tie Dyes & Stealies – if you’re new to the Deadhead scene, tie dye is pretty much our unofficial uniform. But the beauty of the Grateful Dead is that “it doesn’t matter what you wear just as long as you are there” – a lyric from Dancing on the Street. Come as you are – wear what makes you feel the most fabulous. Whether that’s bells on your shoes and scarlet begonias in your hair, sparkles and tie dyes, or a black T-shirt, the culture of the Dead is that all are welcome.
8. Swimsuit and Towel
Swimsuit and towel – Wake Park is providing paddle boards if you want to be on the water while listening to music. If this is something you’re interested in, bring a swimsuit, towel, and change of clothes. There is an outdoor shower near the entrance to rinse off afterwards. PLEASE NOTE: no lifeguard on duty; only do this if you are confident you can float and vibe at the same time
9. Personal Bag
Personal bag – bags are allowed. We recommend bringing a bag for a change of clothes and merch pick ups. Try to keep them the size of a backpack.
